MFR STUDENTS

After a 3 weeks training period, all students are now back home and school.
They all enjoyed their stay in studs or equestrian center . Thanks to Seamus Fahey, Jarlath Fahey, Margaret Kinsella and Stephanie Doyle for their help.
During this short visit, we met the Athy twinning committee and spoke about next year projects, specially the visit of Athy delegates. On Thursday evening, took place at Clanard the ending and friendly dinner with officials, trainers, students and members of both twinning committees.

2010 PROJECTS

All members of board, with the help of Athy Twinning Committee members, and other irish and french organisations, are working on 2010 projects.

European Day 2009

This important event took place in the tiny village of GLAIGNES (far eastern Oise county). We were hosts of the municipality and Automne Villages twinning committee (twinning with Athboy- C° Meath) For our town, representatives were Grandvilliers-Bockenheim board members and La Balad'Irlandaise board members (5). It seemed to us necessary that one young from Athy was attending for preparing 2010 Summer University. So, Rosemarie Stynes came to us for that. After all day long studying, speeches of our local member of Committe of Regions and our local European Deputy called the attendance for the importance of forthcoming European elections. Glana (heritage association of Glaignes) organised a visit of the village and a food on the finger function closed this friendly day.

"Gender and Territory" youngs visit our town

Our partner, MFR, organised from 6th to 17th past July a stay with the theme : "Gender and Territory" for 40 youngs from 15 up 17. 4 countries were attending : France, Romania, Finland and Ireland. The Irish who were coming from Athy and Kildare county are all members of "Aontas Ogra" based in Athy. It was due to important links we have with Athy organisations.
On 14th of July, french National Day, the 40 youngs with their own county flags and the Churchtown Pipe Band have been marching during the Grandvilliers official parade.
