Athy College meets President

Athy College was represented by Gary Kelly and Mr Frank Whelan at the recent Shackleton School. The Shackleton weekend was acknowledging the contribution made by the college in piloting the Shackleton Challenge in the last academic year. First Time Ever in Ireland






Exhibition ‘These Rough Notes – Scott’s Last Expedition’

In

Athy Heritage Centre- Museum

This Exhibit tells the story of Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s 1910-1013 Terra Nova expedition to the Antarctic.


First time in Ireland, these unique artefacts, photographs and panels will be on exhibit

until the 14th December 2012


(On loan from Scott Polar Institute Cambridge and Discovery Point Dundee.)

Short visit to Athy

 Five members of Grandvilliers Twinning Commitee visited Athy past Friday.
They had numerous meetings , specially with Cathaoileach  Mark Wall and Leas-Cathoirleach and chairman of the Athy Twinning Copmmittee, Thomas Redmond, Tow Clerk Brian O'Gorman, Kildare director of services Joe Boland, as numerous clubs sports, with the great help of Mrs Evelyn Mc Fadden, Mr Tom Kearney and Vincent O'Connor.
One day is short but its was a very friendly and productive day !

GREAT MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL

Near 10 000 visitors during the past week-end !
Members of our twinning committee were all costumed and had great craic during the two parades : saturday night, no lights in streets and thousands of people with torches, as in 1212, sunday afternoon, more people quite all costumed.....
